Skateboard decks, hung up on wall, can make for fine decoration. But why not find other ways to incorporate them into a home? That’s exactly what they did with the Skurniture Bench, a chair/side table that uses a skate deck as its seat.
Made by Swenyo, it’s a standard skateboard deck that’s mounted on a set of hairpin legs, turning the board into a functional home furniture that you can use as a chair, a side table, an end table, a foot rest, or whatever else you can think up. It’s quite the looker, too, making for a perfect piece to adorn homes aching to add a little urban flair to their overall décor.
The Skurniture Bench is made using a seven-ply hard maple deck that’s been fashioned into a slightly custom shape, making it ideal for use at home without losing the skateboard appearance. Each deck measures 30 x 8.7 inches (l x w), so it should be spacious enough to comfortably sit a grown man or even two skinnier individuals who are willing to squeeze in (we doubt it will be comfortable). It uses powder-coated steel legs in a hairpin configuration, which are attached to the board using a simple head bolt and lock nut assembly.
If you have plenty of unused decks at home, you can opt to buy just the legs, too. Just pair one set with any deck in your stash and you’ll be good to go.
Available now, the Skurniture Bench is priced at $89 with both deck and legs or just $49 with no deck included.
